Item 1: Short story
The story of the butterfly
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole. Then it stopped, as if it could not go further. Therefore, the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued to watch it, expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge and expand enough to support the body. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around. It was never able to fly. What the man in his kindness
and haste did not understand: The restricting cocoon and the struggle require by the butterfly to get through the opening was a way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that it would be ready for flight once that was achieved.

Message:
In our life, obstacles will make us more mature, if we go through life with no struggle, we will be spoiled easily. Therefore, do not be worried when we get trouble. We should accept and overcome them because they are inevitable thing in our life to gain success.

Message:
Amount of exhaust, which human being are releasing, are alarming seriously and our life are under threat of them. In the other word, we are killing themselves by polluted thing which we produce
REFERENCES:
I think, in cartoon, there is also antithesis device. You can look the different size of the carbon footprint and the car. This emphasizes the danger of the amount of exhaust.

your item 2 is quite good. I totally agree with you about rhetorical devices and the message of this poem. Thanks for sharing a meaningful poem about friendship!!!
Secondly, let me share more idea about the first item. I think that beside what you listed(butterfly, cocoon) to support for metaphor, there is one more important feature you need to add. That is the man with a pair of scissors which represent for the help of other people when they suppose that you get troubles.
Therefore, one more message of this story, from my view, is that kindness and haste sometimes can harm other poeple. The kindness should be put in time, in right place
Like Phuong, I think in the cartoon the foot is bigger than the car many time. It show that the harmfulness is very big. And why is the foot? because it is made by acting of human beings

It brings me a meaningful lesson about friendship: ”A true friend is always beside you and not only helps you overcome difficulties but also brings you joy in life.” Therefore, in our lives, we should be respect friendship among our friends or else it will never come back again.

- item 1: besides the message you mentioned, i think the story tells us that sometimes the way we help others is in fact leading them to disadvantaged situation; so be clear-minded before gives sb a wrong hand.
