An old pond

Metaphor : pond (people’s life)

Message:
People who are unintentional usually think that life floats along to pass, however; it is movable in each second. They can not see, can not hear because they do not pay attention to hear and see. This is the dialectical relationship between silence and noise. Therefore, it is like a bell which wakes human being in the darkness up!
Entry 1 _ Item 2: story
The kind and the peace contest
There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried and submitted their work. The king looked at all the pictures. There were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them.
One picture was of a calm lake, perfectly mirroring the peaceful, towering mountains all around it. Overhead was blue sky with fluffy, white clouds. It was the favorite of all who saw it. Truly, they thought, it was the perfect picture of peace.
The other picture had mountains, too, but these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell and in which lightening played. Down the side of one mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. A less peaceful picture would be difficult to imagine. But when the king looked closely, he saw beside the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush, a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest in perfect peace.
Which picture would you have selected? Lastly, the king chose the second picture.
Rhetorical:
Metaphor: Scene in the first picture (a quiet place but not really peaceful)
Scene in the second picture (noise, trouble, or hard work, etc.)
A symbol:The mother bird on her nest in the second picture ( perfect, real peace)
Antithesis: antithetical scenes between 2 pictures
Message: peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. A real peace is in your heart!
Entry 1 _ Item 3: Cartoon
Rhetorical devices:
Overstatement: a huge mount of rubbish
Antithesis: opposition between the marvelous bridge and the rubbish under the bridge
Message: it is high time for us to protect the environment by recycling rubbish.

Item 2: i agree with you peace doesnot mean to be quite and beautiful place, but it depends on what you think and what you do
Item 3: besides Rhetorical devices which you find out, i want to add Metonymy(the marvelous bridge- all cities or countries over the world, the rubbish, all rubbish which people release

Metaphor: An old pond – one’s whole life which is unchanged, so it is very boring and dull.
A frog – the new impact which makes one’s life change
Splash – the effect of that impact – a fresh and nice life.
Message: Each day, we should create new things for ourselves in order to realize that life is extremely delightful and wonderful. Don’t let our life be in an unchanged state.
The items you chose are interesting, I love the first - very nice one!

Metaphor:
+ the old pond (the older, aged people's life)
+ the frog (the occurrence)
Message:
When people get old, their lives slow down and almost fall into tranquility. When an event occurred, the old world is disturbed and reawakened. However, this occurence also brings out the importance of an older person and helps the younger generation surrounding them to realize their beauty and their significance (the flash).

item 1:you should add metaphor:

+ the frog -the happening
item 2: it is an interesting story. i totally agree with the message you made.
item 3:the Cartoon also contain a message: our environment is seriously polluted,let's make any thing for our environment cleaner.
Personally, I appreciate your entry!! Both three items are okay, especially the first one. The 3 – line, 8 – word Haiku poem but extremely meaningful. It reveals a valuable lesson about our magical life, about the relationship between silence and noise. Considering and Taking some above remark of your friends will make your entry better. I hope you will do it more completely next time. ^_^
