Item 1: Funny story

Tàu Discovery đang trên
đường trở về trái đất từ trạm vũ trụ quốc tế Alpha, trong số bốn phi hành gia
có một người da đen. Bỗng xuất hiện một chỗ hỏng ở vỏ ngoài con tàu, cần một
người hy sinh leo ra khắc phục sự cố. Nhóm trưởng họp mọi người lại và tuyên
bố:
- Các bạn, một
người trong chúng ta phải hy sinh để chữa con tàu, riêng tôi thì không thể chỉ
định ai. Vì vậy tôi sẽ tiến hành một cuộc kiểm tra kiến thức, ai không trả lời
được, người đó sẽ có vinh dự được chết vì sự nghiệp chinh phục không gian của
nhân loại.
Ông ta bắt đầu
hỏi người thứ nhất:
- Vũ khí mà người
Mỹ đã dùng để tấn công một thành phố của Nhật Bản ngày 6/8/1945 tên là gì?
- À… ờ… một trái
bom nguyên tử.
- Tuyệt! – Nói
đoạn ông quay về phía người thứ hai, mặt đang trắng nhợt vì sợ hãi – Thế tên
thành phố đó là gì?
- Hiroshima –
người này thốt lên và thở phào nhẹ nhõm.
Vị trưởng nhóm
dừng lại trước mặt phi công da đen và hỏi:
- Bây giờ đến
lượt anh. Họ, tên, tuổi và nghề nghiệp của những nạn nhân?

Analysis:
It is clear
that the captain showed his discrimination towards the black people. When the
incident happened, he asked the two white men easy questions, but he required
the black man to answer a difficult question. Actually, the captain only
pretended to give a test. He intentionally wanted the black man to sacrifice
his own life to save other men because it is certainly impossible for the black
man, or even readers, to answer the last question exactly.
Item 2: Statistics

TT - Ngày 19-10, Viện Xã hội học (Viện Khoa học xã hội Việt Nam)
công bố kết quả khảo sát xã hội học về dịch vụ trò chơi trực tuyến (game
online) ở Việt Nam trong bối cảnh hội nhập quốc tế. Tiến sĩ Trịnh Hòa Bình, chủ
nhiệm đề tài, cho biết cuộc khảo sát nhằm cung cấp căn cứ khoa học, đề xuất với
Quốc hội và cơ quan chức năng những biện pháp quản lý thích hợp và hiệu quả.
Cuộc khảo sát này
có 1.320 phiếu định lượng, 100 phiếu định tính, thực hiện trên sáu địa phương
gồm Hà Nội, TP.HCM, Đà Nẵng, Cần Thơ, Đồng Nai, Hải Dương trong khoảng một
tháng. Được biết, cuộc khảo sát được sự tài trợ của một doanh nghiệp kinh
doanh game online trong nước.
Theo báo cáo, tỉ lệ
người chơi game chủ yếu từ 30 tuổi trở xuống, chiếm tới 99,9% đối tượng được
khảo sát, tập trung chủ yếu vào nhóm từ 16-20 tuổi (chiếm
tới 42,1%) và nhóm 10-15 tuổi (26,3%). Trong đó nhóm người đang đi học chiếm
tới trên 91%, tiếp theo là nhân viên văn phòng, cán bộ nhà nước... và chủ yếu thuộc
diện có thu nhập thấp, dưới 3 triệu đồng/tháng.
Về tình trạng nghiện
game online, nhóm nghiên cứu đánh giá chỉ có 5,2% người được hỏi có biểu hiện
nghiện game online, không làm chủ được bản thân và quá trình chơi. Nhóm nghiên
cứu kết luận nghiện game online không trầm trọng như thông tin trên các phương
tiện truyền thông đại chúng đưa ra.

Analysis:
The conclusion that online game addiction is
not as severe as information offered by the mass media
is an inaccurate assumption because of these following reasons:
Firstly, the survey was conducted in six large cities
so it cannot convey the differences seen between the effects of online game on
people in these cities and other smaller cities.
Secondly, the survey’s participants were almost game online
players and it was sponsored by a business enterprise on online game,
so the result would be subjective and not fair enough.
Item 3: Cartoon
Type of bias: Prejudice
Analysis:
In this picture, the candidate is not accepted for the job although
he meets all the requirements. The boss's reason for this refusal is
that the candidate reminds him of a person he hated in high school. It shows his prejudice against both the person he hated in the past and whom with the
same features like this person.
I am quite impressed by your entry because of two following reasons:

Secondly, your analyses are very careful and comprehensive.
However, I think that the bias in the third item should be discrimination because the prejudice is expressed in the interviewer’s action “sorry” (= not accept the man)

Trả lờiXóaI think you are really serious in doing this entry because you have carefully chosen 3 items, and you analyzed them quite well.
I like the first story the most because it is really funny, but it also makes us angry with the leader's action.
Item 2: you find a good material. I just want to add that the survey asks participants "if they are game addicted". This way, they can not get the truthful answer because some people who are addicted don't want to admit or do not realize. Second, they say "it is not serious as the media said but they ignore the information that 99,9% people asked play computer games.
Item 3: i agree with Tuyen that it is discrimination.

personally, i really appreciate your entry which reflects your profession and attitude in work. your entry is remarkable with interesting materials and persuasive analysis. i also share some ideas about item 2 and item 3.
Trả lờiXóaitem 2: this survey said that students account 91 percent of the game online players and the rest is office worker and own-state worker who [mainly are low salary (under 3 million VND per month). Do you think it is discrimination.
Item 3: I think it is discrimination rather than stereotype.

Trả lờiXóaIn the item 2,it is unfair and incorrect when asking participants whether they are addicted or not.Almost all of them deny it,so the result is only 5.2%.
In the item 3,it must be discrimination.The interviewer does not accept this candidate because he reminds her of the person she hated in the past(prejudice in action).
Anyway,congratulation!!
