This is the structural fallacy.
Denying the antecedent.
If A, the B
not A
Therefore not B.
- If you use Sunsilk shampoo, you will have a good-looking hair.
- If you don't use Sunsilk shampoo, you won't have a beautiful hair like this.
- However, the truth is you may also have that beautiful hair if you try other shampoos.

Hi, Huyen
Trả lờiXóaIn my opinion, the fallacy here is: appeal to popularity, because it has form:
1. Most people approve of X ( hàng triệu bạn gái dùng dầu gội Sunsilk và có được mái tóc mềm mượt)
2. Therefore X is true ( vì vậy dùng Sunsilk bạn sẽ có được mái tóc mềm mượt )
=> This is weak and invalid argument
Dear Huyen,
Trả lờiXóaI agree with An on her comments "the fallacy here is: appeal to popularity". However, I think the argument is valid, but unsound.
Hi, I agree with Hue. However, I want to add another fallacy, that is "false dilemma" because this advertisement gives the choice between ues and non-use the shampoo to have a good-looking hair.
Trả lờiXóaHi Huyen,
Trả lờiXóaPersonally,I think that you have made "a too far inference".because there is no evidence to infer that"If you don't use Sunsilk shampoo, you won't have a beautiful hair like this"
Anyway, you should pay more attention to spelling: "then", not "the"
I agree with Hue and An that this advertisement appeals to popularity.
