Item 1:

There's an old story repeated in many variations all over Europe

"Heaven is where
the police are British,
the cooks French,
the mechanics German,
the lovers Italian,
and it is all organised
by the Swiss ...

Hell is where
the police are German,
the cooks British,
the mechanics French,
the lovers Swiss,
and it is all organised
by the Italians ! ..."

Do you think this is true?

• ·         Type of bias: Stereotype (national stereotype)

• ·         Analysis :

The British are regarded as being respected to rule.
The French are portrayed as being the excellent cooks because French’s cuisine is well-known.
The Germans are considered as being precise and scientific.
Italian men have a reputation of being romantic.
The Swiss are said to be the well- organized.

In contract:

German policemen: strict
British food: awful.
French mechanics: bad.
Swiss lovers: bored.
Italian management: cumbersome.

In reality is different from these stereotypes.

Analysis:

That the concept of “master race” considered the Aryan race is the most intelligent race in the world is a conclusion based on limited knowledge of the facts and totally incorrect => stereotype.

The Nazi considered the German as the best race in the Aryan while the Jewish was the worst race were the craziest things in the human history => discrimination.

The Nazi took advantage of the concept of “Master race”, rejected thousands of the Jewish and caused the Second World War => scapegoating.

Tuy nhiên, “mật mã” ở đây giải thích Thánh John thực ra chính là bà Mary Magdalene vì tư thế ngồi của Mary và Chúa Jesus tạo thành chữ M (Mary Magdalene) và trên thực tế, hình ảnh của Thánh John trông rất giống phụ nữ!
Về giả thiết Chúa Jesus và bà Mary Magdalene là hai vợ chồng như trong tiểu thuyết, Giáo sư Karen King, Đại học Harvard, nhận định rằng: “Không có bằng chứng gì về việc này. Tuy nhiên, phải nhìn nhận một thực tế rằng, Mary Magdalene là một người được Chúa Jesus truyền thụ nhiều tư tưởng của Thiên Chúa giáo. Bà là người có những đóng góp lớn lao trong lịch sử Thiên Chúa giáo buổi sơ khai”.
"Mật mã Da Vinci" cũng gây ra sự phản đối gay gắt từ phía Giáo hội Công giáo. Đức Hồng y Tarcisio Bertone nói: “Các nhà sách Công giáo nên loại bỏ ngay "Mật mã Da Vinci" giật gân này. Tác giả Dan Brown đáng bị lên án. Cuốn sách là một loại thức ăn hôi thối và bệnh hoạn. Nó chứa đầy rẫy những lời nói dối và xuyên tạc chống lại Giáo hội, chống lại lịch sử đích thực và chân chính của đạo Thiên Chúa”.

•                         Analysis

·         “Da Vinci Code” is a science-fiction novel written by Dan Brown. Its characters as well as related details were invented by its author’s imagination. However, it became one of the most controversial books because of the description of core aspects of Christianity, the history of the Catholic Church, and descriptions of European art, history, and architecture. The criticism of Vatican about the book is too serious. Religion belie is hard to change, so the book cannot effect the Christianity‘s belief and cannot downgrade the Christianity value. It simple expresses the author’s imagination and knowledge about issues related religion, art and symbol.
